Sen. Warner Warns of Election Interference Risk

ICE Border Czar Backs Body Cameras After Deaths
White House border czar Tom Homan said Sunday that he supports requiring Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers to wear body cameras during vehicle stops, following the fatal shootings of two men by federal agents in Houston and Maine within six days of each other. Homan acknowledged on “Face the Nation” that he had not personally reviewed publicly available footage from the Houston shooting but defended his agents’ conduct. Maine Senate Field Collapses Around Troy Jackson
Maine’s crowded Democratic Senate primary narrowed dramatically Sunday when Secretary of State Shenna Bellows withdrew her candidacy, followed hours later by physician Nirav Shah and former congressional aide Jordan Wood. Former state Senate President Troy Jackson’s supporters won 481 of the 500 delegate seats chosen over the weekend, making him the all but certain Democratic nominee to challenge Republican Senator Susan Collins. Jackson still must be formally nominated at next week’s state convention, but every major rival has now endorsed him.4, 5

Wisconsin Governor’s Race Upended by Late Reentry
Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley relaunched his campaign for Wisconsin governor on Sunday after securing the endorsement of outgoing Governor Tony Evers, scrambling the crowded Democratic primary field. Crowley’s reentry gives him institutional backing that rivals have lacked, though it remains unclear how the sudden shift will affect fundraising and organizing with the primary still months away. Evers, who is retiring after this term, had previously stayed neutral in the race before throwing his support behind Crowley.7
Hochul’s Data Center Freeze Sparks Business Backlash
New York Governor Kathy Hochul announced Sunday a one-year statewide moratorium on new hyperscale data center construction, requiring the facilities to generate their own power or pay a premium to draw from the state grid. The Partnership for New York City, the state’s most prominent business advocacy group, immediately criticized the policy, calling a one-year pause a mere “procrastination” that fails to address underlying energy capacity concerns. Hochul’s administration is also moving to eliminate sales-tax subsidies for large data centers as part of the broader plan.8, 9
